The Assignment
Set. was invited to conceptualise and design the full event environment for The Body Shop’s holiday activation, transforming a simple in-store moment into a warm, playful and seasonally immersive experience. The task was to craft a physical world that celebrated the limited-edition Christmas collections—Cranberry Crush, Sugarplum and Caramel Cuddle—through atmosphere, tactility and storytelling. The catering display was to become a sensory focal point, blending products with raw ingredients, florals and layered décor to evoke a festive yet contemporary mood. Alongside this, we were asked to create a photo backdrop that felt inviting, giftable and joyfully interactive, offering visitors a chance to capture Polaroid holiday portraits with friends and pets. All elements needed to feel cohesive, elevated and delightfully Christmassy, with attention to detail from every angle—including the view through the mall’s glass façade.
The Execution
Set. brought the holiday vision to life through a curated event design that balanced festivity with refinement. The catering area was composed as a multi-level still life: tiered tables, wooden crates and serving vessels created sculptural height, while products intertwined with their signature ingredients—cranberries, plums, caramel tones—nestled among winter greens, flowers and subtle holiday ornaments. The result was a rich, tactile scenery that felt both celebratory and photogenic. For the photo wall, we designed a soft, jewel-toned velvet backdrop embellished with an arched front holding the logo, ensuring visual interest from both front and back. This allowed the installation to glow outward into the shopping centre as well as inward toward guests. Optional handheld props introduced a hint of playfulness, completing an experience that invited connection, creativity and a touch of holiday magic. Through considered spatial design and atmospheric detailing, the activation became a joyful, immersive moment that captured the spirit of the season with warmth and polish.
